Hunza changes character completely across the year, and picking the right season shapes the whole trip. Spring, from April into early May, brings the valley’s famous cherry and apricot blossoms — quieter roads, mild days, and some of the most photographed weeks of the year.
Summer (June–August) is peak season: warm days, fully open roads to Khunjerab Pass, and the busiest hotels in Karimabad. Book at least a month ahead if you’re travelling in July or August.
Autumn, especially the second half of October, turns the poplar and apricot trees gold against the mountains — many of our returning couples say this is their favourite time to visit, and it’s noticeably quieter than summer.
Winter brings snow, closed high passes, and a very different, starkly beautiful Hunza — worth it only if you don’t mind cold nights and limited road access. For most first-time visitors, we recommend late April or mid-October.
